Apple today released iOS 5.1.1, offering HDR, Airplay and Safari fixes and other improvements for recent models of the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

This update contains improvements and bug fixes, including:

  • Improves reliability of using HDR option for photos taken using the Lock Screen shortcut
  • Addresses bugs that could prevent the new iPad from switching between 2G and 3G networks
  • Fixes bugs that affected AirPlay video playback in some circumstances
  • Improved reliability for syncing Safari bookmarks and Reading List
  • Fixes an issue where ‘Unable to purchase’ alert could be displayed after successful purchase

iPad (Third-generation): What you need to know


On Wednesday March 7th 2012 Apple introduced the new iPad. My pundits expected this new iPad to be called the iPad 3, however at the launch the iPad was called the ‘new iPad’, and will be known as the iPad (3rd generation).

The main features of the new iPad are a better screen, a faster processor, better camera, 4G mobile networking and voice dictation.

There are a number of answered questions regarding the new iPad, so here are all the details we’ve been able to dig up about Apple’s newest tablet.

iOS 5.1 Released


A few minor changes accompanied iOS 5.1, which launched alongside the new iPad.

New features include the ability to delete photos from Photo Stream, camera face detection now highlighting all faces in a picture, a slightly redesigned Camera app UI for the iPad, Genius Mixes and Genius playlists for iTunes Match users, improved audio for movies and TV shows, podcast controls for playback speed and a 30-second rewind for the iPad.

Also announce were fixes for bugs affecting battery life.

iOS 5.0.1 Released to Sort Battery Issues

On 10th November Apple released iOS 5.0.1, an update that brings fixes for users suffering from decreased battery life under iOS 5. The update also sports a couple of additional features, including multitasking gestures for original iPad users, and bug fixes.

Apple Releases iOS 4.3.4


After a recent report from the German government regarding PDF-related security vulnerabilities in MobileSafari, Apple has released updates for all iOS devices that fix the problem.

Though they both fix the same three vulnerabilities, the patch comes in two versions, thanks to the different flavours of the iPhone 4. iOS 4.3.4 applies to the iPad and iPad 2, the third- and fourth-generation iPod touch, the iPhone 3GS, and the iPhone 4 (GSM model); users of the CDMA model of the iPhone 4 instead get iOS 4.2.9.

Apple Announces iOS 5

On the 6th June Apple announced iOS 5, the much-anticipated major update to Apple’s operating system for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad today at the World Wide Developers Conference keynote event.

The new major features include a completely revamped notifications system, over-the-air software updates and activation for new devices, and iTunes library syncing over Wi-Fi.

The iOS devices supported will be the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, 3rd- and 4th-generation iPod touch, and iPad and iPad 2.
